Moving up...

After the main floor interior walls are installed, the next step is to install the steel support for the second floor. While the main supporting beams are being placed, the Spaceframe light-weight steel floor trusses that will span the beams are being fabricated.

Note: We have some photos of the fabrication equipment and process.

The steel C-beams are welded in place atop
a steel post supported by a concrete footing
"at grade" about 6 feet beneath the floor.

At 550 pounds, the longest beam
seen on the left was quite a
challenge to lift into place.

The supporting bracket
for one of the Spaceframe
girder trusses is welded
in place.

The floor joist trusses
are then installed
between the girders.

The bottom of the second floor trusses
define the nine foot high kitchen ceiling.

Ceiling and floor panels are installed between
the joists as the floor for the second floor takes shape.

The supporting beams for the balcony over
the entry area of the dogrun are installed.
