The dogrun...

One of the key components of our passive solar design is the dogrun or breezeway that separates the main house from the master suite. Prevailing winds will enter from the south and exit through the high windows at the north end, creating a breeze through the other rooms of the house when windows are open.

The steel panels for the walls of the dogrun
are assembled on the carport roof...

...anchored in place, and covered
with heat-reflecting sheathing.

Steel I-beams are installed
to support the dogrun rafters.

Here, a beam is placed across
the south end of the dogrun.

Steel "fins" welded to the
beam will be used to attach
the rafters.
