Sheetrock & Stairs - Smith-Zimmerman home

More progress...

But painfully slow. Sheetrock arrived on July 7th, and installation finally started on August 4th. The staircase down toward the river was installed on July 26th and finished on August 2nd.

A brave (or foolish) driver backs the
load of sheetrock down our drive.

It's carried by hand into the rooms
were it will be installed.

Insulation is installed in the upper
walls above the insulated concrete.

Sheetrocking starts on August 4th.
Here's the ceiling for Susie's kitchen.

Here's the sheetrock ceiling for the "away" room. The wooden frame for double pocket doors can be seen in the foreground.

The steel staircase for the main deck
is brought down the driveway in halves.

The two halves are welded
in place and joined together
with cross-braces.

The staircase is painted, and
Ipe stairs are installed
using the cheapest labor
in the neighborhood.

Optimistically...

The sheetrock should progress rapidly, and the other two staircases should be installed within a few days. The steel siding is rumored to be coming soon, which should enable the rock work to be finished. We're hopeful that things will move rapidly toward conclusion now because we are really, really, REALLY anxious to start enjoying our new home.
