More roof...

On our last report snow was in the forecast. It arrived, then rain, then an ice storm, then more rain...and more rain. We lost about half of February due to bad weather, but work did proceed, albeit slowly.

Now, we have watertight roofs over both the upstairs and the downstairs of the main part of the house, as well as the shop and carport. This is a big step because it will allow work to proceed during rain.

Tar paper covers the second floor
roof, and steel I-beams are being
installed to support the carport and
shop roofs.

Sections of the upper walls of the
living room are assembled, then
lifted into position and secured.

The rafters and foam are then
installed over the living room.

From outside, the deep roof overhangs
on the south side of the house can be seen.

This image from just inside the front door shows the views from the living room and dining room.

The upper walls and rafters for the vaulted ceiling in the downstairs guest bedroom are installed.

Rafters are then placed for the downstairs roof on the north side of the house.

Steel supports are added for the small back deck and its roof.

Here, steel rafters are being
placed over the carport and shop.

Once the rafters are in place,
plywood sheathing is installed...

...then tar paper. We never realized how beautiful tar paper could be.
No more rain stoppages.
